I know this is a knitting blog and I never discuss sewing here - I'm sure that has something to do with the fact that I can't sew - but this post is a "proud mama" post. This past week Miss K has been at Granny camp. What's Granny camp you ask? At Granny camp Miss K gets to spend time with my folks and do everything she loves. They go to the movies, the Lawrence Hall of Science, the book store, they sew, cook all her favorite meals, go to her favorite restaurants - basically it's what I imagine Heaven to be like. Most of my friends have asked if they can go to Granny Camp! This year it was extra special because my folks signed her up for a sewing camp at their LFS as her 6th grade graduation present (can I say LFS like LYS?) She has desperately been wanting to learn how to sew. She wants to be a fashion designer and as she will tell you, "you can't be a fashion designer if you can't sew!" SO she went to sewing camp 4 hours a day for 4 days and LOOK WHAT SHE MADE!!! Isn't this quilt amazing? It's the first thing she has ever sewn and she did it all herself. She wouldn't even let the instructors help her tear out a seam. They did have a few comments about what a perfectionist she is . . . . So as a totally awed and proud Mom I thought I would share her glorious (and bright) accomplishment with you.

Wow!! Well done!!! Colors to cheer up any day anytime, and well sewn. Congratulations to your daughter!!! (Eddie's Quilting Bee, here she comes!)
That's Gorgeous! I want Granny Camp too. I think my kids sort of get that when my mom takes them to Napa. I think around here people refer to the LQS (quilt) but that's different than an average fabric store. Whatever...it all works.
Very well done and proud mom, brag on. It is beautiful!
I think granny camp is a wonderful idea. It is so nice that they are able to do that with their grandchildren
Oh and you are right about the sock blockers, those do seem to run a little bigger.
That's FANTASTIC! Great job, great colors! you have proud mom bragging rights all over the place ;0
The quilt is AMAZING!! I LOVE the bright colors! My kids went to 'Gramps Camp' every summer for a week which sounds like your Granny Camp. They always looked forward to it and had a great time!!!
Wow, you should be very proud. Awesome job for a first time sewer. The Quilt looks like it was made by a very experienced seamstress. Yay for granny camp :)
so fantastic!! I learned to sew around that age.
Miss K did a fabulous job! Congrats!!
I'll second the wow - that's fantastic. Sewing is such a great skill - as a new born "adult" I found it was great because it kept me busy and helped me get clothes when I was on a tight budget.
She did a great job.
