Earth Baby

As I mentioned before, the Little Man's kindergarten teacher is expecting and we Mom's decided to have a baby shower for her at the end of the year. At the last minute I decided to knit a baby blanket for her. She loves earth tones so I skipped the normal pink and baby blue and went with teal, brown, tan and sage. I had three criteria when I went to pick out the yarn. It had to be earth tones. It has to be able to go in the washer AND dryer. It had to knit up quickly! I went with Universal yarn Classic Worsted. It is 80% acrylic and 20% wool. I knit the blanket on size 11 needles so it went quite fast. The pattern is of my own design. I was thrilled with how it turned out as was the soon to be mom. I hope she ends up using it often.
The kids are all out of school and summer camp season is about to start. My oldest has gone on a college tour in southern California and my middle is already bored, bored, bored! Maybe she could walk the dog . . . .

The blanket it great! I've used Universal for my kids hats before. I love it for it's wash and wear.

Your oldest is not going to be a senior next year!? How did all that go so fast. If she ends up at a So.Cal college, you'll have to come see me when you visit her.

I heard another bloggy mom offer for her son to clean the shower...he was quickly UN-bored. Too bad these kids don't know that we moms would love to have a chunk of time with nothing to do and little responsibilities....

Hi!! Our knitted goodies arrived at SFS headquarters. Here is what was posted for our contribution:

"Brooke A CA 1 cap, plus box of beanie babies, and did you also send some homemade soaps?
I think I mixed up some items, as I was sorting through boxes for things I needed.
Thank you. for the cap sent by your friend Angelknitter too. Her cap is perfect. Please see me off list too. Bless you both and another 2 soldiers smile."

I'll send you a copy of the announcment when our stuff is shipped out, in the "outgoing announcments" - she does this so we can see how the supplies flow! It's very exciting to read that something you knit is headed overseass..
